A free 30-minute e-learning tool that aims to provide learner drivers with the skills to save or prolong a life until paramedic care arrives.

Each year in Victoria, around 250 are killed, and a further 8,000 are seriously injured by road accidents. This e-learning tool prepares the next generation of drivers with the skills and knowledge to drastically reduce these numbers.

About the e-Learning Tool

Launched nationwide in November 2022, the Learner Driver First Aid Awareness tool is a a free 30-minute e-learning tool designed with young people in mind. It aims to lifesaving first aid skills into young drivers and their passengers.

After a traffic accident, the first 3 to 5 minutes are critical for life-preserving actions. it takes just 4 minutes to die from a blocked airway — the single cause of an estimated 85% of pre-hospital traffic deaths. Bystander first aid can significantly reduce pre-hospital deaths if appropriate techniques are applied while waiting for emergency services to arrive at the scene.
