Why Teach First Aid to Young People?
First aid is a lifelong skill that empowers children and teens to act in an emergency. Whether it’s helping a family member, a friend, or even a stranger, early exposure to first aid builds confidence, awareness, and the ability to save lives.
As part our strategic goal to Grow Our Community Impact, we are seeking to train 300,000 people annually by 2026. By reaching out to more members of the community, including our young people, with a range of programs that are age and lifestyle appropriate we will be able to ensure more people can learn vital first aid skills.
When we have more first aid ready young people prepared to do CPR and use a defibrillator in our community, this will also build towards our goal of improving sudden cardiac arrest survival to 8%. More lives saved is the ultimate aim, which will benefit everyone in Victoria.
